Common Uses of Sulfamylon:This medicine is an antibacterial agent used to treat or prevent skin infections in patients with serious burns.
How To Use Sulfamylon:Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after application of this medicine. Use a sterile gloved hand to apply this medicine to a thickness of approximately 1/16 inch on all affected areas. Whenever necessary, reapply the cream to keep the affected areas covered at all times. Follow the directions provided by your doctor for bathing or washing the affected area. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. TO PREVENT OR TO CLEAR UP YOUR INFECTION COMPLETELY, continue using this medicine for the full course of treatment even if your condition improves in a few days. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
Sulfamylon Cautions:DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU HAVE HAD A SEVERE ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine or any other sulfonamide antibiotic (such as Septra DS, Bactrim DS, Gantrisin). A severe reaction includes a severe rash, hives, breathing difficulties, or dizziness. If you have a question about whether you are allergic to this medicine or if a certain medicine is a sulfonamide antibiotic, contact your doctor or pharmacist. If you are NOT allergic to this medicine, DO NOT STOP USING this medicine without checking with your doctor. If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse, check with your doctor. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are using this medicine. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this medicine.
Possible Side Effects of Sulfamylon:SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include burning sensation upon application, rash or itching. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience rapid or difficult breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
