Common Uses of Sulfacet-R:This medicine is an antibiotic and drying agent combination used to treat acne. This medicine works by promoting the shedding of the top layer of skin (keratolysis). It may also be used to treat other skin conditions as determined by your doctor.
How To Use Sulfacet-R:Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Some products should be shaken prior to use. Check the label on your medicine or with your pharmacist if you are not sure. Wash your hands before and immediately after using this medicine. This medicine is for use on the skin only. Clean the affected area and apply a thin film of medicine. Rub gently until it is evenly distributed. This medicine is usually used 1 to 3 times daily. Follow the instructions given by your doctor. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. DO NOT STORE IN THE BATHROOM. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
Sulfacet-R Cautions:If your symptoms do not improve within a few weeks or if they become worse, check with your doctor. Do not use any other medicines or special cleansers on your skin unless otherwise directed by your doctor. AVOID GETTING THIS MEDICINE in your eyes or on the inside of your nose or mouth. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while using this medicine.
Possible Side Effects of Sulfacet-R:SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include redness or irritation. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience cracked skin, or rash. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience weakness, dark urine, yellowing of eyes or skin, persistent sore throat, fever, or if you begin to bleed or bruise easily. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include, rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
