Common Uses of Ser-Ap-Es:This medicine is an antihypertensive, rauwolfia alkaloid, and thiazide diuretic combination used to treat high blood pressure.
How To Use Ser-Ap-Es:Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. TAKE THIS MEDICINE with food or milk. WHEN YOU FIRST START TAKING THIS MEDICINE, it may cause an increase in urine or in frequency of urination. To prevent this from affecting sleep, try not to take any dose later than 6 pm. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Ser-Ap-Es Cautions:DO NOT STOP TAKING THIS MEDICINE without first checking with your doctor. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, EMERGENCY CARE, OR SURGERY, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE drowsiness or dizziness. If dizziness occurs, sit up or stand slowly. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE increased sensitivity to the sun. Avoid exposure to the sun or sunlamps until you know how you react to this medicine. Use a sunscreen or protective clothing if you must be outside for a prolonged period. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL without first checking with your doctor. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this medicine.
Possible Side Effects of Ser-Ap-Es:SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include headache, loss of appetite, nausea, upset stomach, diarrhea or constipation, drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, blurred vision, dry mouth, nasal congestion, nosebleed, or weight gain. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience unusual thirst; restlessness; unusual, prolonged tiredness or weakness; muscle or joint aching; muscle fatigue or cramping; fainting; difficulty urinating; rapid heart rate; vomiting; change in mood or sleep habits; change in sexual ability; breast tenderness or enlargement; hearing or vision loss; skin rash; chest pain; or difficulty breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
