Common Uses of Pilopine:This medicine is a cholinergic used to treat glaucoma. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How To Use Pilopine:Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. TO USE THIS MEDICINE: first, wash your hands. Pull the lower eyelid away from your eye to form a pouch. Squeeze a thin strip of gel into the pouch. After using the medicine, gently close your eyes and keep them closed for 1 or 2 minutes. Wash your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them. Wipe the applicator tip with a clean, dry tissue. TO PREVENT GERMS FROM ENTERING THE MEDICINE, do not touch the applicator tip to any surface including the eye. STORE THIS MEDICINE as directed on the prescription label. Keep the container tightly closed. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.
Pilopine Cautions:This medicine may cause blurred vision. Make sure your vision is clear before driving or performing any task that requires good vision. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
Possible Side Effects of Pilopine:SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include increased tearing, eye irritation, blurred vision, eyelid twitching, change in vision, or headache. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
