Common Uses of Nitrogard:This medicine is a nitrate used to treat and prevent angina (chest pain). It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How To Use Nitrogard:Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. TO USE THIS MEDICINE, place a tablet between your upper lip and gum, above the front teeth. If you wear dentures, place the tablet between the cheek and gum above the denture plate. To avoid tooth and gum decay, vary location sites and brush your teeth after the tablet has completely dissolved. Allow the tablet to dissolve slowly over the next 3 to 5 hours. DO NOT CHEW OR CRUSH the tablet and DO NOT SWALLOW the tablet. If you accidentally swallow a tablet, replace it with another one, unless otherwise advised by your doctor. Do not fall asleep with a tablet in your mouth. KEEP THIS MEDICINE IN THE ORIGINAL CONTAINER with the lid tightly closed. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, away from heat and light.
Nitrogard Cautions:THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE dizziness. Drinking alcohol will worsen this effect. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to this medicine. If dizziness occurs, sit up or stand up slowly. THIS MEDICINE MAY GIVE you a headache or cause a burning or tingling in your mouth. These effects are normal. FOR MEN: DO NOT TAKE VIAGRA (sildenafil) while using this medicine. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS DRUG IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
Possible Side Effects of Nitrogard:SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting when sitting or standing; headache; burning or tingling in mouth; fast heartbeat; or flushing of your face and neck. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience continuing chest pain; pain in neck, arm or jaw; excessive sweating; or vomiting. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
