Common Uses of FML:This medicine is a corticosteroid used to treat swelling, itching, redness, and irritation of the eyes and eyelids. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How To Use FML:Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine may come with a patient information leaflet. Read it carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have before using this medicine. This medicine may be used around the eye or in the eye. TO USE THIS MEDICINE IN THE EYE: first, wash your hands. Pull the lower eyelid away from your eye to form a pouch. Squeeze a thin strip of ointment into the pouch. After using the medicine, gently close your eyes and keep them closed for 1 or 2 minutes. Wash your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them. TO PREVENT GERMS FROM ENTERING THE MEDICINE, do not touch the applicator tip to any surface including the eye. IF YOUR DOCTOR PRESCRIBED more than 1 eye medicine, find out the best order for using each medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.
FML Cautions:DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE longer than recommended or for future eye problems without first checking with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR before wearing contact lenses while you are using this medicine. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
Possible Side Effects of FML:When you apply this medicine, it causes blurring of your vision for a few minutes. This is expected. If it continues or is bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience changes in vision; continued blurring of vision; eye pain; continued or worsening itching or swelling; or discharge from your eyes. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
