Common Uses of Calcitriol:This medicine is a form of vitamin D used to treat low calcium levels in your blood. It may also be used to treat osteoporosis or other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How To Use Calcitriol:Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE and you are taking 1 dose a day, take it as soon as possible. If you do not remember your dose until the next day, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Calcitriol Cautions:Keep all doctor and laboratory appointments while you are taking this medicine. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. This includes vitamin and mineral supplements containing vitamin D or calcium, or antacids containing calcium, magnesium, or phosphorous.
Possible Side Effects of Calcitriol:CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience unusual weakness, severe headache, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, constipation, muscle pain, bone pain, or a metallic taste. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
