Common Uses of Adriamycin:
This medicine is an antineoplastic antibiotic used to treat certain types of cancer.

How To Use Adriamycin:
This medicine is usually administered as an infusion at your doctor's office or clinic. This medicine is sometimes used at home as an infusion. If you are using this medicine at home, a healthcare professional will provide detailed instructions for its appropriate use. Ask any questions you may have about this medicine or giving infusions. DRINKING EXTRA FLUIDS while you are taking this medicine is recommended. Check with your doctor or nurse for instructions. IF NAUSEA, VOMITING, OR LOSS OF APPETITE OCCURS, ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist for ways to lessen these effects. DO NOT GET THIS MEDICINE ON YOUR SKIN. If this medicine comes in contact with your skin, wash it off immediately with soap and water. STORE THIS MEDICINE as directed on the prescription label. Do not freeze.

Adriamycin Cautions:
KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are being treated with this medicine. THIS MEDICINE LOWERS YOUR RESISTANCE to infection. To prevent infection, avoid contact with people who have colds or other infections. Do not touch your eyes or the inside of your nose unless you have thoroughly washed your hands first. THIS MEDICINE MAY REDUCE THE NUMBER OF BLOOD CELLS NEEDED FOR CLOTTING. To prevent bleeding, avoid situations where bruising or injury may occur. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE HAVING IMMUNIZATIONS (VACCINATIONS) while you are using this medicine. THIS MEDICINE CAUSES THE URINE TO TURN RED. This is harmless and should go away in 24 to 36 hours after receiving a dose of this medicine. THIS MEDICINE HAS BEEN SHOWN TO CAUSE HARM to the human fetus. IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this medicine.

Possible Side Effects of Adriamycin:
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include nausea, vomiting, loss or appetite, hair loss, tiredness, or weakness. If they continue or are severe, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site; unusual bruising or bleeding; loose or bloody stools, swelling of the ankles, or shortness of breath; sores in the mouth or on lips; fever; chills; cough; sore throat; or rectal bleeding or irritation. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
